One in every eight women living in the U.S. will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. As part of their treatment, approximately 35% will have a mastectomy to remove one or both breasts. That's where breast reconstruction surgery comes in, as it is a vital part of total physical and emotional healing for breast cancer survivors. Yet many who desire reconstruction don't have sufficient insurance or other financial resources to cover the cost of surgery and may not know what options are available to them. Imagine having gone through a difficult surgery, only to discover you cannot afford the expensive procedure that will help you feel whole again.
That's where the AiRS Foundation comes in. The Alliance in Reconstructive Surgery (AiRS) Foundation is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, dedicated to providing breast reconstruction, after mastectomy, for women who cannot afford this procedure.
The AiRS Foundation Mission
The AiRS Mission is: Provide women access to breast reconstruction surgery, after mastectomy, to help them feel whole again. We advocate, educate and support. The AiRS Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for women who have had mastectomies due to breast cancer and want reconstructive surgery, but cannot afford it. The foundation also raises awareness for women in this situation by educating physicians and medical communities, mastectomy patients, caregivers, and other advocacy groups. While every woman who has had a mastectomy might not feel the need for reconstructive surgery, the AiRS Foundation makes it possible for anyone who does want reconstructive surgery, regardless of their economic circumstances.How eraclea helps -- and you can too!
